About the Artist: 

Pauline is a graduate of and former teacher at the School of Fashion, “L’Académie des Couturiers Canadiens.”  She attended courses in the Creative Arts Program at Algonquin College and has taken numerous workshops with renowned artists.  She is a juried Fellow of the Ottawa Watercolour Society (FOWS), where she also served consecutive terms as its President. She has exhibited her work in many galleries in the Ottawa region and received multiple awards from juried events. Artist’s statement:

Watercolour painting is a journey, and making progress requires constant practice and experimentation with different techniques and pigments.  Understanding the behaviour of the medium, colour theory, tonal values, saturation, textures, and more will help you develop a unique style.

This course will focus on:

The goal of this series of classes is to find beauty in the unexpected, embrace happy accidents, and make watercolour a meditative and calming experience. 

This course is appropriate for all levels of watercolour experience.

This course will cover:

  •    Working with texture
  •    Water Control
  •    Preserving highlights
  •    Transparency
  •    Value Shifts
  •    Developing small studies and working on 1/4 sheet paintings
  •    Painting various subjects
  •    Colour mixing and harmony
  •    Applying painting techniques (wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, layering)
  •    Analyzing and assessing results

You can use your own sketches or the ones I use in my demos.  Questions are always welcome, and after each project, we’ll assess the results and learn from the experience.

  •             Using various watercolour painting techniques

You will have the option of using your own sketches or the sketches that I use in my demos.

During the classes, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, share your journey, analyze your progress, and most importantly, have fun painting!

Kanata Art Club reserves the right to cancel a class where there is insufficient registration.  You will be notified and receive a full refund.

To withdraw prior to the start date, please contact the  treasurer at treasurer@kanataartclub.com.  An e-transfer for a full refund less an administrative fee of $25.00 will be issued if a written request is received no less than 2 weeks prior to the start of the first class.  There will be no refund issued beyond that date, unless we can fill your spot from a waitlist.
