Creating Compelling Light - Gaye Adams

Painting convincing light isn’t rocket science – it is just the process of creating accurate value, color, and temperature relationships. If you often feel you just can’t get the light to read in a painting, that your paintings are sometimes dull instead of glowing with light, this is the workshop for you.

Participants will learn how firstly to see the colours and values accurately, and then how to arrive at the mixtures that will make their paintings sing with light. This will be accomplished through demonstrations, exercises, and creating small studies to reinforce the learning.

Each day will begin with demo, (demos will be in oil) and then students will receive individualized coaching at their easel throughout the afternoon. Gayle will demo in oils however students are welcome to paint on acrylics .

This will be fun!  I look forward to seeing you there. Bring your curiosity and enthusiasm.
Gaye Adams has been working as a professional painter for her whole adult life.  Her passion is painting the effects of light, and subject matter varies; in fact, Gaye considers the light to be what most of her paintings are about, and interesting light is what drives her to the easel.  She shows currently in Canada House Gallery in Banff, AB and Adele Campbell Gallery is Whistler, BC.
Gaye currently holds senior signature status with the Federation of Canadian Artists and Master Pastellist designation with the Pastel Artists of Canada.  Her works can be found in private and corporate collections in Canada, the US and Europe.
The artist has long considered teaching a vital part of her journey as an artist, and takes great satisfaction in helping other painters along their way.  Plein air painting is also a passion; it is both an amazing experience and a great skill builder at the same time.  She travels widely to teach on location, both in North America and abroad.  Her work can be found here: http://www.gayeadams.com/
