Portrait Painting in Oil

This 8-week course will provide an introduction to portraiture in oil. There will be short lectures or demos to kickstart each session, combined with time spent on individual portrait projects in graphite or oil with guidance. The subject of the first painting will be a choice of bust from a reference photo, but participants are welcome to bring their own subject photo to paint from.

List of supplies:

Drawing supplies for first day of class: 

• paper (can be letter size printing paper or equivalent)
• HB graphite pencil (2B and 2H is optional, only if you already have it, no need to purchase if not)
• eraser

The painting supplies will be discussed on the first day, but if you would like to start your painting right away, you may bring your preferred reference photo and your painting gear for the first a class.

Dates:  Tuesday mornings, March 24,  Apr 7, 14, 21, 28, May 5, 12, 19 (No classes on Mar 10 or Mar 31) 8 weeks)

Registration:  Opens for volunteers on Feb. 13th, for KAC members on Feb. 20th, and for non-members on March 1st.

Time:  9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Fees:  Members: $260; Non-members: $300

Kanata Art Club reserves the right to cancel a class where there is insufficient registration.  You will be notified and receive a full refund.

To withdraw, please contact the treasurer at treasurer@kanataartclub.com.  A cheque or e-transfer for a full refund less an administrative fee of $15.00 will be issued if a written request is received no less than 48 hours prior to the start of the first class.  There will be no refunds beyond that date, unless we are able to fill the spot from a waitlist.
