Donata Szafian is a classically trained artist with a BFA in Sculpture, a BA in Industrial Design, and an MA in Jewellery Design. Her background in both fine art and design gives Donata a practical, problem-solving mindset. She studied in New York with Nelson Shanks and with Michael John Angel at the Angel Academy in Florence. Donata taught drawing, painting, and sculpting at Algonquin College for 15 years, but now teaches privately and primarily works on commissioned pieces.
Class Description:
In this eight-week course, Donata will guide you through the drawing and painting process for one or more of your chosen works. You are welcome to bring reference photos of your selected subject matter. This will be a project based class. Throughout, Donata will provide individual attention to help you progress with your project(s).
Dates: Tuesday afternoons March 24, Apr 7, 14, 21, 28, May 5, 12, 19, 2026. (Note : no class on Mar 31)
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Fees: Members: $260; Non-members: $300
Registration: Opens for volunteers Feb. 13th, For KAC members Feb. 20th, non-members March 1st
Kanata Art Club reserves the right to cancel a class where there is insufficient registration. You will be notified and receive a full refund.
To withdraw, please contact the treasurer at treasurer@kanataartclub.com. A cheque or e-transfer for a full refund less an administrative fee of $15.00 will be issued if a written request is received no less than 48 hours prior to the start of the first class. There will be no refunds beyond that date, unless we are able to fill the spot from a waitlist.
