Discover the magic of watercolour with award winning artist Brian Turner. Brian studied Fine Arts at Okanagan College and Brigham Young University. He is a signature member of the Society of Canadian Artists and of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour.

The Workshop

This workshop will challenge you to interpret fall scenes in watercolour. Brian will lead you through the compositional decisions that you will need to make to produce works with compelling shapes, a balance of lights and darks, and just the right amount of detail. He will help you to see the important aspects of the photo imagery that will launch you into landscape painting.

Artist Statement

Born in Russia in 1972, Michael has called Montreal his home since 2011. From his studio there, his artworks keep adding to the beauty and value of both public and private collections around the world. He has taken part in 16 personal and 80 group exhibitions around the globe, receiving multiple awards. Joy and reverence are evident in everything he produces, perhaps especially in the deep play of light and shadow. He experiments continuously, challenging himself with a wide range of styles and techniques. “Every day,” he says, “I look, I hear, I feel my immediate environment. When painting, I relive these sensations. And I believe that if we pay close attention, each object and every moment contains the Universe within it.”

Michael conducts multiple workshops around the world as well as private lessons in his own Montreal studio. Recently, he represented Canada at watercolor festivals in Hong Kong, Slovenia, India, Italy, France, Costa Rica, Mexico, Hungary, and Portugal.

The Workshop

Learn how to paint ships and sails, waves, rocks and shore, boats and reflections, streams and ponds, still water and water in motion. You will learn how to paint wet in wet and the multi-layered approach. Michael will help you improve your skills in building a colour scheme, in mastering composition, and in brushwork.

You can expect plenty of individual attention and helpful demonstrations throughout.
